As a native Seattleite, it brings me so much joy to serve growing families in the Puget Sound area. I was first called to birth work after college, while living in Bellingham, WA. I stumbled across a mom’s personal blog while I was doing online scouting for my job in children’s clothing. She had written out her home birth story in such detail I felt like I was there with her. Out-of-hospital birth wasn’t a tradition in my family and I was immediately captivated. Within a matter of weeks, I was spending all my spare time reading birth stories and watching nearly every birth video I could find on YouTube. I delved into Ina May Gaskin’s books, and serendipitously found Anne Frye’s classic textbook “Holistic Midwifery” in a free pile on the sidewalk. My “lightbulb” moment felt more like a giant, flashing, neon sign.
I started attending births after being trained as a labor doula at the Penny Simkin Center in 2014. In 2019, I graduated from Bastyr University with a Masters in Midwifery and became licensed shortly after. While at Bastyr, I completed additional coursework in Botanical Medicine and love to incorporate herbal remedies into my practice. I have attended hundreds of births and over 1000 hours in prenatal and postpartum visits. Midwifery is truly my calling! It is an honor and a privilege to be able to bear witness to the power of childbearing people. When I’m at a birth, I take time to listen closely to my clients’ wishes, provide evidence-based advice, and offer hands-on support as a trained Spinning Babies provider.
I was blessed to attend the births of 2 of my 4 nieces and am a proud auntie! If I'm not at a birth, I'm probably cooking Italian food, listening to a true crime podcast, or off dancing at a jam band festival.
