Ellena Karpenko MSM, LM, CPM~ Clinic Midwife

Ella is not currently on call. Ella is providing prenatal/postnatal appointments at this time.

Ella’s path to Midwifery began after attending a friend’s home birth as a doula. This experience inspired her to apply to Bastyr University’s Masters of Science in Midwifery program (MSM). During her seven years of training in the medical industry, Ella had the privilege of supporting thousands of families through labor and birth. She has personally caught or assisted in catching over 250 babies.

Before applying to midwifery school, Ella volunteered at Providence Hospital. She also interned as an electrocardiography technician at Overlake Hospital, as a laboratory technician at Virginia Mason, and as a nursing assistant at Prestige Post-Acute & Rehab Center. While pursuing her undergrad, Ella spent over four years as a medical assistant-phlebotomist at Evergreen Health, working in various departments. It was during this time she came to realize her passion for Women’s Healthcare.

Ella’s experience in Midwifery has shaped the values she upholds today in her own practice. She believes in compassionate, client-centered, and evidence-based care. She believes in providing parents with options in their care and helping families make an educated choice.

Ella grew up in a predominately Slavic and Russian-speaking community and hopes to increase access to midwifery care for this group and other culturally-diverse communities. Ella currently lives in the countryside of Lake Stevens with her husband and children. She enjoys reading, the outdoors, and celebrating those around her.
